Following the election and constitution of 147 Traditional Councils in 2024, the Department of Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA) has embarked on an initiative to equip elected Traditional Council Members with a deeper understanding of their roles as they take on their responsibilities through a series of Induction Workshops in all five districts.

As rain clouds gathered at Setumong Village on 14 March 2025, so did residents who wanted to witness the official handing over ceremony of the Bakone Ba Matlala A Thaba Traditional Council Offices.

Delivering his keynote address, Limpopo CoGHSTA MEC, Mr Basikopo Makamu said that the handing over ceremony is a celebration of progress, unity and the continued partnership between traditional leadership and government.
