The Limpopo CoGHSTA MEC, Mr. Basikopo Makamu and Members of Limpopo House of Traditional and Khoisan leaders (LHTKL) led by Limpopo Premier, Dr. Phophi Ramathuba engaged in a dialogue on 11 March 2025 at Bolivia Lodge. The dialogue was not only centered around pertinent issues affecting Traditional Leaders and rural communities but to relate to the speech delivered by the Premier during the Opening of the House on 29 May 2025 at Thengwe Village. Matters raised by the House ranged from:

  • Anthropology services to work directly with Senior Traditional Leaders and not headmen and headwomen,
  • Reviewing the status quo for newly allocated villages,
  • The filling of vacant posts in Traditional Councils and reduction of staff components from 5 to 3,
  • The request for government to not support unrecognized Senior Traditional Leaders,
  • Provincial Initiation Coordinating Committee (PICC)'s request to extend Initiation Schools' Season from 3 to 4 weeks,
  • Consequence management for PICC members who do not attend meetings to name a few. The engagement concluded with the assurance from the Premier and MEC Makamu that matters raised will be given priority.
