![]() MEC Makamu hands over Bakone Ba Matlala A Thaba TrAs rain clouds gathered at Setumong Village on 14 March 2025, so did residents who wanted to witness the official handing over ceremony of the Bakone Ba Matlala A Thaba Traditional Council Offices. Delivering his keynote address, Limpopo CoGHSTA MEC, Mr Basikopo Makamu said that the handing over ceremony is a celebration of progress, unity and the continued partnership between traditional leadership and government. "Let this gathering serve as a call for peace and unity among our traditional leaders. Disputes should be resolved amicably, with the guidance of our laws and the wisdom of our elders. We cannot allow conflicts over leadership to undermine the progress we have made in bringing services to the people," said Makamu. Speaking on behalf of the Limpopo House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders, Deputy Chairperson of the House, Kgoshi Boleu Rammupudu outlined that the newly built Traditional Council Offices will serve 49 villages and have the support of 41 headmen and headwomen. "We congratulate Kgoshigadi Lekwelaruri Matlala on this milestone and hope that these offices will bring services by South African Social Service Authority (SASSA), Home Affairs and other community development initiatives closer to the people," he said In her closing remarks, Kgoshigadi Matlala thanked the government for delivering on the commitment made to construct the Bakone Ba Matlala A Thaba Traditional Council Offices. "We promise to take care of these offices and ensure that services are made available to the community of Setumong and surrounding villages," she said.
